Prepare the Ground
Mark the area, excavate to required depth, then install and compact a solid sub-base (MOT Type 1 or similar).

Apply a thin leveling layer of sharp sand and lay weed membrane.

Fill with gravel
Fill cells with angular gravel and level slightly above the grid.

A dusty pink looking gravel when dry and is a deep rustic red colour when wet. This is a very hard, angular, granite gravel. Other names for this aggregate are sometimes used like Cloburn Red Gravel, Harden Red Gravel, Red Spar Gravel or Ruby Red Gravel. The 6mm size is ideal as an alpine gravel for rockeries. It's quite uniform in colour whether wet or dry and ideal if you don't want too much colour variation. Larger 14mm and 20mm sizes are also available.The size range is approximately 3-8mm.
