Aggregate Depth Laying Guide

On each decorative aggregates, slate chippings and some pebbles product pages, there is a recommendation in the tabs section as to how deep you should lay the aggregate. A visual example of the currently selected product is displayed. The larger the aggregate the deeper it should be laid. This page allows you to visualise all the recommended depths for gravel, slate chippings and pebbles, to help you with your purchasing decision. You don't want to lay the aggregate too thinly because it will look patchy and expose any weed membrane fabric you might have laid. The Volume Calculator will help you estimate how much gravel you will need.

Gravel Depth Laying Guide

The 6mm gravel is usually used in alpine gardens and rockeries, and can be laid at between 20-30mm. The 10mm and 14mm is normally used for decorative purposes and on paths and is best laid at between 30-40mm. The 20mm is normally used on driveways and also for decorative landscaping projects.
