The larger of the two plum slates. A beautiful mauve colour this decorative slate is eco-friendly as it's recycled from the Welsh roofing slate industry. Very similar in shape to blue slate but ideal if you want a more colourful slate. The colour is pale when dry but looks striking when wet. There can often be the odd blue or green pieces mixed in. Individual pieces can sometimes contain multiple colours. It looks great in rockeries, planting beds and borders and can be used as a mulch but it's still recommended you lay a weed membrane first. It is also used for screescapes, water features, ponds, driveways, paths and general decorative landscaping. The approximate length of the chippings ranges between 30-50mm.
