The larger of the two sizes of graphite grey slate chippings. Quarried in Wales, this slate is an eco-friendly product. It's made from crushing the slate left over from roofing tile production. Alternative names for this slate like Charcoal Grey Slate and Grey Slate are sometimes used. It's a darkish grey neutral colour that helps accentuate colourful plants that may be around where it is laid. The odd other colour of slate might be in mixed in with this product and even within the same piece of slate due to its natural formation. It's commonly used for screescapes, water features, ponds, driveways, paths and in general decorative landscaping projects. It looks great in rockeries and works with any coloured rockery stone. It can also be used for planting beds and borders where it makes a great mulch, but it's still recommended you lay a weed membrane first.
