Blue Welsh Slate Chippings 20mm
From £3.96
To £89.64
The smallest of the two sizes of Blue Slate Chippings. It's Welsh mined and is environmentally friendly as it's the material left after roof slate production. Mostly blueish grey in colour, but it can contain the odd green and plum pieces. Sometimes individual pieces can even contain traces of these other colours due to the changes within the slate seam at the quarry. Slate like all aggregates is a natural product so be aware that the material may sometimes vary slightly in colour to the photos or contain random plum or green pieces. It looks great in planting areas and borders because it provides a strong contrast giving a contemporary look. It acts as a mulch, suppressing weeds and keeping the soil moist, but it's still advisable to lay a weed prevention membrane first. Its also commonly used for screescapes, water features, ponds, drives and general decorative landscaping. The 20mm grade of slate is the more popular size for use on paths. The smaller size tends to bed together better by forming a flatter surface. It will settle and lay flat very quickly. The approximate length of the chippings ranges between 10-30mm. The recommended depth for laying is roughly 30-40mm. Also available... Blue Welsh Slate Chippings 40mm
