Gravel Stabilisation Grids
Gravel Grids offer gravel stabilisation with double strength weed suppressant membrane attached to the base. The gravel grids provide a free draining, permeable layer for residential driveways, patios and paths. The honeycomb segments prevent rutting, spreading and gravel migration making it accessible for pedestrian, vehicle, wheelchair and bicycle users. These grids have been specifically designed to accommodate 10-20mm aggregates. They are produced from recycled materials and are UV resistant. The grid size is 1.2m x 0.8m x 30mm offering a coverage of approximately 1sq metre. Suitable for both domestic and light commercial situations.
Single grids and the 10 and 12 options are added FREE to the pallet when you order aggregates.
For every bulk bag of gravel, order the 10 grids option, and for every 1000kg of poly bags order the 12 grids option.

- Excavate and remember to leave enough depth for the grid / gravel and sub-layers.
- Lay the MOT sub-base and compact with a vibrating plate or roller at 150mm deep.
- Prepare an edging. This can be monoblock, concrete edging, metal edging or timber. this prevents movement of the grids and migration of the gravel.
- Cover with a 20mm deep layer of course sand / grit. The sand performs a number of tasks. It protects the grids and membrane from any sharp stones, it evens out any highs and hollows and improves the long term performance of the grids.
- When laying the grids, ensure that each sheet overlaps the membrane of the previous sheet.
- Cut any grids to shape with a small grinder or hand saw.
- Fill the grids by discharging aggregates graded 10mm to 20mm in size directly over the surface, by wheelbarrow or directly from a loose load. Do not drive any vehicle over the grids until they have been filled.
- Fill the grids to beyond the top edge of the grids to ensure they are completely covered.

FAQ
Our volume calculator is linked to in the footer and on relevant product pages. It allows you to calculate rectangular, triangular and circular areas at a specified depth and will estimate how many tonnes you will need. It also recommends how many bulk bags or poly bags you will require and estimates how many rolls of weed membrane you would need to cover the area. Most product pages provide a recommended laying depth.
As stone is a naturally sourced mineral product there can be variations in colour from batch to batch. The colours of the product photos vary on every device due to the calibration of each screen. The colours are quite accurate but it’s alway best to purchase a sample prior to placing an order if you aren’t familiar with a particular product.
Our products are photographed both when wet and dry. We want you to be aware of how sometimes there can be a vast difference in appearance depending on whether the products are wet or dry. There are also some aggregates that change very little, rain or shine.
If you intend to cover a driveway then the 20mm size range would probably be the best option. 10mm gravel is more likely to get stuck in tyre tread and is better suited for using on paths.
Our bulk bags contain approximately 800kg and the poly bags approximately 20kg. The size and density of some products affect the amount in the bags.
Laying gravel or slate chippings on driveways and paths is the most environmentally friendly option compared to the alternatives. This is the reason aggregate surfaces are encouraged so rain water can easily drain away, leading to a lower risk of flooding.
All our products are priced very competitively so we can’t price match. It’s also not always possible to guarantee products on other websites are exactly the same stone or mix.
Unfortunately not on bagged products but if you require a loose load we can quote for a minimum of 20 tonnes. Our Loose Loads of Aggregates page has more details.
We don't offer a trade discount as all our products are priced as competitively as possible.

We prefer to be transparent with the delivery costs and only charge for the correct number of pallets used. However, there are the odd products like samples that include the postage and packing.
Our company VAT number (343476003) is printed on the order confirmation and invoice that is emailed to you after placing an order. The emails also include PDFs of these documents for your convenience.

No, but haulage companies can't deliver more than 8 pallets to an address on a single day. If you order more than 8 then further deliveries on consecutive days will be made. If you require a large amount of the same aggregate (minimum 20 tonnes), then a loose load would be an option. Our Loose Loads of Aggregates page has more details.

The goods usually do need to be signed for and accepted by you or someone on your behalf. In certain circumstances with prior arrangement the driver can leave a pallet if he deems it safe to do so. However to prevent any problems we strongly advise for someone to be there. If they have need to redeliver there is an additional charge of £20 per pallet to pay before this will be attempted.
The tail-lift lorries used for delivery vary in size. They are usually either 7.5 ton or 18 ton, which is around the same size as a fire engine or large bin lorry. The delivery video shows how the pallets arrive.
The haulier can’t drop the pallet on a steep incline. The driver has to be able to safely manoeuvre a pallet up to 1000kg (1 ton) to a suitable kerbside position. Delivery can only be made if the ground is hard, level and reasonably flat.
