The mauve plum colour of this Welsh slate rockery is very striking when wet which makes it an ideal choice for ponds and water features. The pieces are not always compact lumps of rock like other stone types. Slate is the most angular type of rockery stone and can come in longer pieces and can sometimes be flat and thin. It can be used in rockeries and decorative landscaping where a few pieces can create an eye catching feature. It's the same stone that is used to make slate chippings. The sizes vary considerably because thickness is also a factor. The size range tends to be between 20-40cm.
